Tom’s album  ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be’ was released on August 15th via Insanity Records.

We think it’s timely to mention what Tom said about his previously released single, Boys Don’t Cry. It’s Suicide Prevention Day today and we’re sparing a thought for all those who are struggling to cope with the stresses and pressures of today’s world.

I’m an emotional person,” Tom says.“In a lot of towns, especially where I come from, there’s still this stigma around emotion. Men are told they need to be about football, beer, and zero emotions. Boys Don’t Cry is the tonic to the negative “man up” usage, a term used by us lads who find it hard to deal with other vulnerability and in fact our own. It’s the song that helped me go, do you know what? I’m comfortable with being able to cry and process emotions, I call my mum or my missus and some friends who have also struggled but since passed the barrier . It’s a difficult situation being a lad around people when they get emotional, or being emotional yourself and talking about it. So let’s have that conversation.”

Boys Don’t Cry further showcases the thrilling evolution of one of UK’s most exciting talents at his creative best. Tom teamed up with producer Justin Tranter for his fourth album, creating a state-of-the-art pop record. The 15-track album is the multi-platinum-selling artist’s fourth and serves as the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2023’s ‘What Ifs & Maybes’. Coinciding with the album release, Tom Grennan embarked on his biggest UK & Ireland arena tour to date this month, with 11 dates announced for the GRENNAN ’25 tour.

With two number one albums under his belt alongside multiple Brit and Ivor Novello nominations, countless airplay smashes, sold-out arena tours and an MTV Award for Best UK Act, Tom Grennan is already one of the country’s biggest artists. Last August saw the Bedford-born artist headline his biggest show to date to a capacity crowd of 25,000 at Gunnersbury Park.

Keen to explore a new sound, Tom enlisted the songwriter and producer behind hits for Dua Lipa & Chappell Roan and found in Tranter a collaborator who understood exactly what he wanted to say and what he wanted to sound like: George Michael, Prince, Freddie Mercury. “So much of the new music is uplifting — it makes you dance, makes you sing,” Tom says.

“It’s about my fight with a side of me I have a lot of trouble with. It’s still a daily battle. But I’ve learned how to fight all these demons and I’m mentally and physically prepared now. I’m in athlete mode.”

While the title alludes to a time when Tom faced challenges with his mental health, ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be’ is a positive album about self-belief and having the confidence to take risks.“This album is about me, revived. Now I’m at a place where I DO want to be. And I’m ready to blow people’s heads off.”

Sky-watchers enjoy rare total lunar eclipse

It's been a striking night for lovers of a total lunar eclipse, so I hope you managed to catch a glimpse of the glowing Blood Moon this evening.

From astronomers in Kuwait to sky gazers in Johannesburg, South Africa, this rare phenomenon has captivated audiences globally, while others missed out at a watch party in London.

Sadly, it wasn't visible from central London when I popped out to check a little while ago, but we've very much been enjoying your pictures here in the BBC newsroom.

We're ending our live coverage here, thank you for joining

About 75 people gathered this evening in Blackheath for a Flamsteed Astronomy Society event in London - families, couples, friends and kids.

All were hoping to catch sight of the eclipse. It felt a bit like a small party and the mood was optimistic when clouds started clearing above the eastern horizon about half an hour before the moonrise.

But in the end, the weather didn’t play ball - and we didn’t see the eclipse.

“This is British astronomy - we turn out but there’s always a risk you don’t see anything. Sometimes the weather lets us down,” Jake Foster, public astronomy officer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, tells me.

“Maybe you can come again next year?” Gaia, 11, asks me - the next chance to see a partial eclipse is August 2026.

Roundhay Park film way back when

The world of cinema, with its captivating stories, larger-than-life characters, and breathtaking visuals, has become an integral part of modern culture. But have you ever wondered where it all began? Welcome to the fascinating world of “Roundhay Garden Scene,” the very first movie ever shot. In this article, we explore the historical significance and enduring legacy of this groundbreaking film, which paved the way for the cinematic revolution.

The Inventor: Louis Le Prince

The journey of cinema began with the vision and ingenuity of French inventor Louis Le Prince. Born in Metz, France, in 1841, Le Prince was a pioneer in the field of moving pictures. In the late 1880s, he developed a single-lens camera capable of capturing sequential images on a single roll of film.

Le Prince’s fascination with capturing movement through photography led him to experiment with his newly invented camera. Little did he know that his experiments would shape the course of history and revolutionize the world of visual storytelling.

The Setting: Roundhay Garden

On October 14, 1888, Louis Le Prince chose the tranquil garden of Joseph and Sarah Whitley’s home in Roundhay, Leeds, England, as the backdrop for his groundbreaking experiment. The lush greenery and serene ambience of Roundhay Garden provided an ideal setting for capturing life in motion.

The Cast: Adolphe Le Prince and Family

For his cinematic endeavour, Louis Le Prince enlisted the help of his son, Adolphe Le Prince, and other members of the Whitley family. The film features four subjects: Adolphe Le Prince, Sarah Whitley (Adolphe’s mother and Joseph Whitley’s wife), Harriet Hartley (Sarah’s mother), and Joseph Whitley (Sarah’s father).

The Scene: A Glimpse of Life in Motion

“Roundhay Garden Scene” is an extraordinary film not because of its complexity or lengthy plot but due to its historical significance as the first motion picture ever shot. The film, lasting just a few seconds, shows the four subjects strolling around the garden.

Though seemingly mundane, the film was a groundbreaking achievement. It captured a snippet of life in motion, something that had never been achieved before. The continuous loop of movement provided a glimpse of the potential of motion pictures as a means of storytelling and expression.

The Legacy: Paving the Way for Cinema

The significance of “Roundhay Garden Scene” extends far beyond its brevity. It marked the birth of cinema as an art form, setting the stage for the development of motion pictures as we know them today. Louis Le Prince’s pioneering work laid the foundation for other inventors and filmmakers to explore and refine the art of filmmaking.

The world of cinema owes a debt of gratitude to “Roundhay Garden Scene.” Without this humble beginning, the mesmerizing world of motion pictures and the countless films and stories that followed might never have come to fruition.

“Roundhay Garden Scene” remains a symbol of innovation and creativity, an enduring testament to the ingenuity of Louis Le Prince. This short film, with its simplicity and charm, sparked the journey of cinema, captivating audiences worldwide for over a century.

As we enjoy the mesmerizing world of modern cinema, let us remember the humble beginnings of “Roundhay Garden Scene” and pay homage to the visionary inventor whose work forever transformed the way we experience stories on the silver screen.

Liam Gallagher thanked the 70,000 fans who attended Oasis' first reunion gig in Cardiff for 'putting up with them over the years'. The singer and his brother Noel had been at loggerheads for 16 years, with fans giving up on the idea that Oasis would reunite for another tour.

However, they shocked fans when they made the announcement last year that they would be embarking on an epic tour all over the world. Cardiff was blessed with the very first gig on Friday night, with the brothers holding hands and raising them to the sky as they waltzed onto the stage.

The likes of Champagne Supernova, Supersonic, Slide Away and more were performed tonight, with Noel pausing for a few bars while singing Half The World Away to take in the scenes in front of him.

After leaving the stage at the end of the night, fans stomped and cheered as they demanded an encore.

They returned to sing the likes of The Masterplan, Don't Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall before Liam thanked fans for supporting them.

He said: "Thank you, beautiful people. This is it. Nice one for putting up with us over the years. We are hard work, we get it."

To go down in History

The (matrix) in the House of Con-men's, criticise Trump for taxing countries, while they plan to remove money from our disabled and their pip

The government has won a vote on its benefits bill by 75 votes, but only after offering last-minute concessions to Labour rebels.

Ministers had already watered down their plansonce by reversing some cuts to universal credit and protecting current claimants of personal independence payment (Pip) from stricter eligibility rules.

However, some Labour MPs were still concerned the new criteria for claiming Pip would come into force before the recommendations of a review could be implemented.

Fearing a humiliating defeat, the government announced a further U-turn, saying it would not change Pip rules until it had time to consider the review's conclusions.

The 11th hour changes leave the government's Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill gutted of its most significant measures.

The move undermines Sir Keir's authority, which has been called into question by a series of U-turns recently, and that of Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall.

It also puts pressure on Chancellor Rachel Reeves' spending plans, as potential savings of around £5bn will now be delayed or lost entirely.

Helen Miller, incoming director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank, said the figures would "intensify the speculation over the summer about which taxes may rise and by how much".

She said it raised questions about the government's credibility adding: "It doesn't bode well for those hoping this government will grasp the nettle and address the deeper, structural challenges facing the UK public finances."

Speaking after the vote, Kendall said: "I wish we had got to this point in a different way."

She said there were "lessons to learn from the process" but defended the bill arguing it put in place "really important reforms" to help those who can, back into work.

Labour MP Chris Curtis, who supported the measures from the outset, defended the government's concessions. He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I don't think it's weakness to look at the evidence to reconsider your position, and to end up in a better place.

What’s the Definition of a High-Flying Job in This Era?

Well, of course, we all remember that growing up, the talk of high-flying jobs usually centered around careers like solicitors or doctors. If you were academic enough, disciplined, and—let’s be honest—lucky, then landing one of those roles meant you’d “made it.”

However, today’s world looks very different. That’s not to say that those professions aren’t still highly respected and successful, but the landscape of opportunity has broadened. Trades of all types—once viewed as labour-intensive roles for the less fortunate—have seen a major shift in perception and value.

Qualified electricians, plumbers, joiners, and similar tradespeople are now earning salaries that compete with, and in some cases exceed, those of general practitioners and other traditional professionals in the UK.

Then, of course, we’re living in a technological era. Fields like ethical hacking, networking, software development, and anything connected to artificial intelligence are among the most lucrative and in-demand careers of our time.

So, what should you do today if you’re a young man or woman considering career opportunities?

Let’s take a closer look.

What to do?

Rudd's Media, is a North Leeds agency which has a multitude of themes.

With blogs, local business advertising directories, poetry, art and much more.

All very off white and controversially  driven, its good to see the bravery of a well put together alternative, freedom of free thinking and alternative ideas, which in todays society, appears a minority and the mass threads all in compliance with someone else's opinions and usually these of the conditioned, material, generic mind.

A Top Spot in Roundhay Park

One of the best things about Tropical World is that it’s right in Roundhay Park. So, you can easily make a whole day of it. Go see all the exotic plants and animals, and then enjoy everything else the park has to offer – the lakes, the playgrounds, or just find a nice spot for a picnic. It’s a perfect combination.

Honestly, if you’re looking for something a bit different to do in Leeds, Tropical World is a great shout. You get to see some incredible things, learn a bit, and just have a memorable time. It made for a fantastic day out for me.

There’s always something going on in Leeds.

We’re a city that loves to entertain, with a jam-packed event programme that runs all year round. It runs through our much-loved music venues, iconic clubs and prestigious theatres. It runs through our outdoor spaces from Millennium Square and Leeds Dock to our many parks, museums and country houses. Whether it’s a concert, open mic, stand-up, film screening, sports, workshop, talk, festival, performance, food and drink… in Leeds there is guaranteed fun to be had every day (and night) of the week.

Is Local networking working for your business?

Networking in essence has been a thread, a method for years and years to self promote and share ideas with people in industries, with the same or cross market business, in which one can assist another as a joint affiliate program or a combined fulfilment of a contract requiring skills and services that you offer together.

The Benefits of Hosting a Networking Event

Running a networking event offers numerous benefits, both for the organiser and the participants. For businesses, it’s an opportunity to showcase your brand, connect with potential clients, and establish yourself as a leader in your industry. For participants, it’s a chance to meet like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and build relationships that could lead to future opportunities.

"Of course there are thousands of ways to network"

However, as the world has evolved and a digital multitude of platforms have allowed you to interstate these tools, gives you a broad spectrum geographically, showcasing who, what and how you can fulfill such duties and your availability and potential to succeed , then platforms such as LinkedIn have broadened the market and choices , with immediate contact is just amazing, once filtered and narrowed down the specifics and target market , these groups and tourism can be very valuable towards networking and sourcing new candidates and clients, leading to more customers and revenue with good profits and growth in general terms

DO’S AND DON’TS

Do: Plan with Purpose

  • Every successful event starts with a clear purpose. Know what you want to achieve—whether it’s fostering new business relationships, promoting a cause, or simply bringing a community together. Tailor the event’s format, agenda, and activities to align with this goal.

Don’t: Leave the Details to the Last Minute

  • Attention to detail is crucial. From selecting the right venue and sending out timely invitations to organising the flow of activities, every detail matters. Last-minute planning often leads to avoidable issues that can detract from the event’s success.

Do: Create a Welcoming Atmosphere

  • Make sure your event is accessible and inclusive. A warm, friendly atmosphere encourages attendees to engage and interact more openly. Consider things like the layout of the room, the availability of refreshments, and the clarity of instructions or signage.

Don’t: Overlook the Importance of Icebreakers

  • Starting conversations can be daunting for some attendees, especially first-time networkers. Incorporate icebreakers or structured networking activities to help break down barriers and make it easier for people to connect.

Do: Facilitate Meaningful Connections

  • Networking is most effective when it leads to genuine relationships. Encourage meaningful interactions by organising activities that go beyond superficial exchanges. This could be in the form of roundtable discussions, expert panels, or themed networking sessions.

Don’t: Focus Solely on Your Own Agenda

  • While promoting your business or cause is important, a networking event should primarily serve the interests of your attendees. Ensure that the event provides value for everyone involved, whether through learning opportunities, new connections, or access to resources.

Do: Follow Up with Attendees

  • The event doesn’t end when the last attendee leaves. Follow up with participants to thank them for attending, share any relevant information or resources, and encourage them to stay connected. This follow-up can strengthen the relationships formed at the event.

Don’t: Forget to Gather Feedback

  • To improve future events, gather feedback from attendees. Ask what they enjoyed, what could be improved, and any suggestions they have for future events. This input is invaluable for refining your approach and ensuring your events continue to deliver value.

Do: Leverage Social Media

  • Promote your event on social media before, during, and after it takes place. Encourage attendees to share their experiences and connect online. This not only increases the visibility of your event but also helps build a sense of community.

Don’t: Ignore the Importance of Timing

  • The timing of your event can significantly impact attendance and engagement. Consider factors such as the day of the week, time of day, and any competing events. The right timing can make all the difference in ensuring a strong turnout

New Cafe bar/ shop in talks of developing on Tong Road Leeds.

Take a look at some of Our Issues

Leeds café and bar brand Residence has opened the doors to its exciting new day-to-night concept in Moortown.

The new venue, located on Harrogate Road, combines the comfort of a coffee shop with the sophistication of an evening cocktail bar, bringing a fresh and distinctive addition to the popular North Leeds suburb.

By day, customers can expect fantastic coffee, mouth-watering breakfasts and delicious brunch dishes. At night, things heat up with an atmosphere that takes the bar from relaxed daytime vibes to an elegant and lively nighttime venue.

The evening menu features a variety of small plates from crispy arancini and baked meatballs to creamy Burrata with pesto, perfect for sharing.

Guests can also enjoy a mouth-watering selection of pizzas, including standout flavours like Vodka Puttanesca, Pepperoni and Hot Honey, and Cheesesteak, all complemented by a curated list of expertly crafted cocktails.

Located in the former Barclays Bank building, the venue offers seating for 100 guests, set against a backdrop of cosy, contemporary interiors.

The original bank vault has been cleverly transformed into a traditional-style private dining room, providing a unique and intimate setting for special occasions. Outside, a heated terrace seats 35, making it the perfect spot for relaxed summer brunching or evening cocktails.

Residence Moortown will be the third location for the popular eatery, which began as a small café in Cookridge in 2018. Headingley followed in early 2023 and both have grown into thriving businesses focused on delicious food and excellent customer experience.

Residence general manager, Nate Smith, said: “After months of planning to create a beautiful and inviting café and bar space, we’re thrilled to finally open the doors to our new venue in Moortown. This new dual-purpose setting brings something a bit different for our customers to enjoy, and we have lots in store – day and night – to keep everyone’s tastes satisfied!”
